Motivation in operatic acting must be found in the music and the text


VeraMusica Workshops, presents



The first Sunday and Monday of January, February, March, April and May of 2014, VeraMusica Ltd will present a series of workshops for singers interested in an in-depth study of operatic scenes of the so called “bread and butter” repertory.


The purpose of these workshops is to discover how to approach the acting of a scene taking in consideration that it must evolve from an in-depth understanding of the text and the music, and done in a way in which the essence, form and style of these two essential elements are kept intact.

These workshops will be supervised by tenor Francisco Casanova.

The teaching staff will include:
Mo. Brian Holman, conductor.
Ms. Anna Etsuko Tsuri (stage director at the Vienna State Opera, Berlin Opera, Paris Opera, Covent Garden).
Ms. Yumi Hashimoto, accompanist.

THIS WORKSHOP WILL TAKE PLACE AT YEORYIA'S STUDIOS, LOCATED AT 2067 BROADWAY, OTELLO - 5TH FLOOR. BETWEEN 71ST AND 72ND STREETS, ABOVE GIGI'S CAFE.

Workshops’ dates:
Sunday January 5th, from 4:30 until 10 PM. -- La Traviata, scenes.
Sunday February 2nd and Monday February 3rd - Scenes from Il Trovatore (Acts I and II), LElisir d’Amore and Rigoletto.
Sunday March 2nd and Monday March 3rd -- Scenes to be chosen yet.
Sunday April 6th and Monday April 7th -- Scenes to be chosen yet.
Sunday May 4th and Monday May 5th -- Scenes to be chosen yet.
